EXTENDED PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Picolit is considered a gem of Italian enology. Probably, the origin of its name derives from the low production of its berries and bunches, or according to other versions, from the small size of its grapes. This wine has always been very precious, just think that its production, even today, does not exceed 900 hectoliters in all of Friuli. This is due to the fact that the Picolit vine produces very few and sparse berries, around 10-15 berries per bunch, as it is characterized by inflorescences that are very subject to floral abortion. Precisely for this reason it has always had an image of great exclusivity, becoming in recent centuries the wine par excellence for special occasions that delighted the palates of princes and Popes. Carlo Goldoni defined it as Friuli's most resplendent enological gem, while Veronelli described it thus: "Firm and aristocratic; it has a strong backbone and high fabric, which is pleasing to the point of a peacock's tail; a very great wine, a "meditation" wine.
